There was quite a range of looks I could have given this image.

Then back to Lightroom for final tweaks and conversion to JPG. Then called up DxO Optics Pro Elite and used Viewpoint to straighten up the leaning trees.

Once merged and tweaked, sent them back to Lightroom. I first loaded into Lightroom, and then called HDR Efex Pro 2 from Lightroom. Not true that NIK's HDR Efex Pro 2 won't work on the RAW files. Green sky fixed, but now there is a saturated white area. These shots are not easy, and need to be approached with care taken to exposure. The best solution is if your lowest exposure has good sky-keep the overexposed areas out of the final, or don't overexpose in the first place. But see, that leaves a white area that's a little harder to fix. Here's what happens when you take a little green out of the greenish area to compensate. The other problem is that the sky is overexposed, at least in this version. In a complicated case you might want to make a mask. I improved it considerably by selecting the tree and adjusting the curve with Gimp, followed by a little burning for touchup. The basic way to handle that kind of situation is not to keep changing software until you find a program that accidentally fixes the problem. As I said, make sure your lens is as clean as it can be (if it wasn't already), and don't polish it with your shirt. Looks like the effect is still present regardless of the software used. Thanks very much for taking the time to do this. Unfortunately in this case the final image came out very dark. Here is EasyHDR on Natural, probably my favorite program. Buying the program in order to fine-tune the processing would be a good investment. I'm using the free version that doesn't allow for any adjustments. I had to play with the adjustments quite a bit to get a just-viewable image. Honest, I have no idea why I still have this program installed. Third, it seems your brightest image isn't very bright but your darkest images are very dark. Second, HDR Efex Pro can't work with raw files, so I had to use the jpegs with it as well. Or maybe it was there and Luminance just couldn't read it. Each is so different, and each is so effective or ineffective depending on the images, that I used the most generic settings on each with no other processing.Īnd I noticed some potential problems and resulting inconsistencies:įirst, the exposure offset ( +2, -2, etc.) data was missing from the exif files so Luminance could not work directly with the raw files I had to convert to jpegs first. Ok, here are the fast results from a couple of different HDR softwares.
